Bronze Alloy

Bronze plaques are the popular choice for interior as well as exterior applications. Although the finish of bronze will naturally patina over time, the material itself will never deteriorate.

Objects made from bronze have been found submerged in seawater for over 3000 years still in excellent condition.

Bronze alloy specification. Equivalent to Copper Development Association Alloy C83600;
Generally 85% copper, 5% tin, 5% zinc, 5% lead.

Calculating the weight of a bronze plaque

The weight of a bronze plaque may be roughly estimated by calculating the plaque’s volume in cm (height x width x depth) x 8.7.

For most smaller plaques (under 90 cm x 80 cm) allow 0.65cm as the approximate depth. Use 0.9cm for plaques over 90cm x 80cm.

Example: For a 90 cm x 60cm plaque calculate 90 x 60 x 0.65 = 3510 cc x 8.7 = 30537 g.  The plaque’s estimated weight would be 30.54kg or  67 lbs.
